The Chilliwack Bruins are pleased to announce that the Bank of Montreal  is the title sponsor for the "BMO Books with the Bruins" literacy program.

During the 2007/08 season the Books with the Bruins program involved approximately 25 schools, over 50 classrooms and more than 1200 students.  As part of the program local students in grades 2-5 are encouraged to spend extra time reading with Bruins ticket incentives put in place for avid readers.

Bruins players read to students as well as play floor hockey, answer questions and sign autographs.

“Books with the Bruins last season proved to be an overwhelming success for Fraser Valley students,” remarks Bruins President Darryl Porter.  “With BMO lending support as the title sponsor, this program will expand greatly and allow more students to be rewarded for reading.  We cannot do enough to stress to children the importance of not only knowing how to read, but actually choosing to read in your spare time.  We have seen that this program will encourage that, and thank BMO for stepping up as the sponsor.’

Please note that we will begin taking requests for BMO Books with the Bruins appearances later this summer. If you require further information please contact Vanni De Bartolo at 604.792.4625 ext 105.
