Bruins Acquire Matt Strong

January 7, 2008

The Chilliwack Bruins have today acquired 17 year old defenseman Matt Strong from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for 18 year old forward Colby Kulhanek.

Strong, (6’2” 200 lbs), has appeared in 49 WHL games with the Red Deer Rebels and Everett Silvertips.  Strong has scored one goal and one assist over those games and has accrued 77 PIM in that span.

‘Matt Strong is a strong, mobile defenseman, and we are excited to have Matt join our club,’ comments Bruins GM Darrell May. ‘Unfortunately, we have to give up a player of Colby’s ability to acquire Matt Strong.  Colby has been a good Bruin for us, but with our abundance of 89 born players, we believe this to be the best situation for Colby and the Bruins moving forward.  We wish Colby the best of success in Red Deer.
