Rockets Edge Bruins 3-2

The Kelowna Rockets got goals from three different players as they defeated the visiting Chilliwack Bruins 3-2 Friday night. With the loss the Bruins are now 21-20-3-1 on the season and are tied for sixth place in the Western Conference with the Kamloops Blazers.

Cody Almond opened the scoring just 28 seconds into the game, tipping a pass from Brandon McMillan past Bruins goaltender Mark Friesen. Brayden Metz, a late addition to the Bruins lineup tied the game at th 4:11 mark on the power play. Kelowna outshot Chilliwack 13-3 through the first twenty minutes.

The Rockets scored the only goal of the second period when Brady Leavold batted in a loose puck after a scramble in front of the Bruins goal. Shots on goal after two periods were 27-9 in favor of the Rockets.

At the 2:48 mark of the the third, it was Brayden Metz with his second of the night, third of the year to once again draw the Bruins even. Just 1:14 later Evan Bloodoff finished off a two on one after taking a pass from Myles Macrae giving the Rockets the 3-2 lead they would hold till game's end.

Chilliwack was 1/4 on the power play. Kelowna went 0/5. Shots on goal in the game were 33-18 in favor of Kelowna. Kris Westblom earned the victory in goal for Kelowna.

The Bruins next action is Saturday when they host the Kamloops Blazers. Prior to the game, the Bruins will recognize Oscar Moller's silver medal performance at the recently concluded World Junior Championships. Fans are also encouraged to wear their hockey jerseys. Fans wearing jerseys will have the opportunity to win great prizes.
