Moller Joins the AHL Manchester Monarchs

The Chilliwack Bruins would like to congratulate forward Oscar Moller on being called up to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.    Moller has signed an amateur tryout agreement, which allows him to play for the Monarchs now that his season with the Bruins is complete.

Moller, 19, has just completed his second season with the Bruins.  The native of Spanga, SWE, has scored 71 goals and 80 assists for 151 points in 131 games with the Bruins.

‘We are excited for Oscar that he has been presented with the opportunity to be called up by the Monarchs,’ comments Bruins GM Darrell May. ‘This opportunity will allow Oscar to gain valuable experience playing at the next level and will help him in his goal to one day play in the National Hockey League..’

The Monarchs are the AHL affiliate club of the Los Angeles Kings.  Moller was drafted by the Kings in Round 2 of the 2007 NHL Draft, 52nd overall.

Height: 5’11  Weight: 177  Hometown: Spanga, Sweden  DOB: January 22nd, 1989

 

Acquired by the Bruins with the 2nd overall pick in the 2006 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft...scored his first WHL goal with Chilliwack September 29th 2006 vs Vancouver...led the Bruins with 32 goals during the 2006-07 season...was named co winner, along with Mark Santorelli of the Bruins Rookie of the Year award for the 2006-07 season...drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft...holds Bruins records for most goals in a game (3), which he has done three times, points in one period (4), goals in one period (3), points in one game (5), and longest goal scoring streak (9 games, 17 goals) set this past season...Captained Team Sweden to a bronze medal at the U18 championships last summer...was a member of Sweden at the 2008 World Junior Championships held in the Czech Republic where he scored three goals and added two assist in leading Sweden to a  silver medal…set a new Bruins record this season with 39 goals and also set a team record for multiple goal games with eight...led the Bruins with 16 power play goals this season, matching his total of last season.
