Bruins Maul Cougars

December 4th, 2007

The Chilliwack Bruins jumped out to an early lead over the Prince George Cougars and coasted to a 6-3 victory, their fourth consecutive.

Evan Pighin had the Gordie Howe hat trick, scoring twice while adding two assists and a fight in the victory.  The Bruins also had goals from Mark Santorelli, Cody Smuk, Nick Holden and newest Bruin Chris Van Duynhoven in the win.  The Cougars had goals tonight by Ty Wishart, Morgan MacLean and Parker Stanfield.

This game also saw action by all four goaltenders.  Mark Friesen earns the victory, even though he sustained an undisclosed injury after the Wishart goal.  Matt Esposito mopped up for the Bruins.  Tommy Tartaglione started the game for the Cougars, but was pulled after allowing three goals in the first period.  Backup Real Cyr finished the game for the Cougars.

The Bruins get some much needed rest and do not play again until Saturday night, when they face off against the defending WHL Champions, The Medicine Hat Tigers…game time will be at 7 pm.

Ice Chips: Nick Holden scored his 8th goal in his 32nd game tonight. He had 8 in 67 games last season...Oscar Moller's four assists is a personal best for one game. Moller also had four assists last Friday vs Portland...Mark Santorelli's goal streak is now at six games. He has 10 goals during the streak...Earlier in the day, Moller was named to Team Sweden for the upcoming World Junior Tournament.
