Cougars Edge Bruins

Ty Wishart's third period power play goal broke a scoreless tie and proved to be the winner as the Prince George Cougars (13-23-1-0) edged the Chilliwack Bruins (17-16-3-1) by a score of 1-0 Friday night in Prince George. The two teams meet again Saturday night in Prince George.

Real Cyr earned the shutout for the Cougars stopping all 31 shots directed at him. Mark Friesen made 20 saves in goal for the Bruins.

The Bruins were 0/5 on the power play, the Cougars went 1/3.

The Bruins next home game is Monday, New Year's Eve when they host the Kelowna Rockets. Game time is 7pm. Tickets can be purchased online, reserved by phone 1-800-663-9311 or in person at any ticketmaster location.

Ice Chips: Kevin Sundher made his WHL debut for the Bruins. Sundher was the Bruins first selection, 7th overall in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft...Not in the lineup for the Bruins were Oscar Moller (World Juniors), Ryan Howse (U17 World Challenge), Partik Bhungal (leg injury), David Hoda, and Scott Ramsay. Chilliwack is now 1-6-0-0 all time in Prince George.

Moller at World Juniors: Bruins forward Oscar Moller is in the Czech Republic as a member of Team Sweden at the World U20. Moller, a 2nd round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft leads the Bruins with 25 goals this season.

Called Up: The Bruins have called up 15 year old forward Kevin Sundher and 16 year old defenceman Scott Ramsay. Sundher, the Bruins first selection in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft (7th overall) has 9 goals and 19 assists in 24 games this season with the Valley West Hawks of the BC Major Midget League. Last season he scored 77 goals and 96 assists with the Western Canadian Bantam AAA Champion Burnaby Winter Club Bantam. Ramsay has appeared in one game with the Bruins earlier this season, registering no points. This season, in 28 games with the Princeton Posse of the Kootenay International Hockey League, Ramsay has 3 goals, 7 assists and 161 penalty Minutes.
