Blades Top Bruins in OT

February 22, 2008

Chris Langkow's goal at 2:14 overtime capped off a three goal comeback for the Saskatoon Blades as they defeated the Bruins 4-3 Friday night in Saskatoon.

Trailing 1-0 to start of the second period, Chilliwack scored three straight goals in the second including two by Oscar Moller and one by Brandon Campos to take a 3-1 lead. The blades knotted things up at three before the end of the second period on goal by Jyri Niemi and Chris Durand.

A scoreless third period set the table for Langkow's heroics.

Saskatoon outshot Chilliwack 35-23. The Bruins were 1/9 on the power play, the Blades were 2/4. Matt Esposito took the loss in goal for Chilliwack.

The Bruins (26-27-4-4) remain in seventh place in the Western Conference and now hold a four point lead over the eighth place Kamloops Blazers. Chilliwack moves on to Prince Albert for a game against the Raiders Saturday night. Game time is 5:30 pacific time.

Ice Chips: Oscar Moller's two goals in the second period came forty seconds apart, one second quicker than the team record for two fastest goals by one player. Moller set the old record of 41 seconds earlier this season against Tri City...Mark Santorelli picked up two assists increasing his point total this season to 88, good for second place in league scoring. Santorelli trails Kelowna's Colin Long by two points...defenceman Carter Berg made his debut tonight for the Bruins. Berg was the Bruins second pick, 26th overall in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft. Berg's older brother Mitch, the 15th overall selection in the 2006 Bantam Draft was in the lineup for the Blades...Oscar Moller now has 32 goals on the season, matching his team high of last season.
